Paula Hermanny is passionate about giving back and as part of ViX Swimwear’s Giving Inspiration campaign, each week we are going to choose notable women who inspire Paula and focus on their humanitarian work as a way to stay inspired during this season of giving.
We choose Diane von Furstenberg as our first inspirational woman to feature. Hailed as a designer, icon and philanthropist, Diane continues to be an ever-present force in the fashion world as well as an ambassador for hope to those in need. In 1999, the Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation (DVFFF) was founded to support non-profit organizations dedicated to the development of sustainable communities. With DVFFF, Diane established the DVF Awards to directly honor and provide grants for women who exemplify leadership and affect positive changes within their communities. Last year, Diane, along with husband Barry Diller, joined the Giving Pledge. Launched by Warren Buffett and Bill and Melinda Gates, the Giving Pledge is an initiative for America’s wealthiest families to commit to giving the majority of their wealth to philanthropic causes.
Early on in her career, Newsweek Magazine hailed Diane von Furstenberg as “the most marketable woman since Coco Chanel.” Today, she is a key player in shaping the industry itself and takes that illustrious career one step further by enriching the lives of others through her philanthropic efforts, by giving back and by continuing to inspire us still.
