Horse racing season at the Del Mar Racetrack is one of San Diego’s most premiere events. This year, the track celebrates its 75th season and anticipates over 40,000 fashionable attendees on opening day. Ladies dress up to the nines and enter the traditional “One and Only Truly Fabulous Hats Contest.” The races and festivities last for over a month and Del Mar, “where the turf meets the surf,” continues to attract some of the highest track visitors in the nation. It is a definite must see during any summer visit to San Diego!
