As the country celebrates the arrival of summer, Vogue Brasil has chosen to feature the Carioca’s (Rio-born) coastal playground, citing even more reasons to love the city. And, since Rio de Janeiro serves as the Brasil headquarters for ViX, designer Paula Hermanny chimes in with helpful tips about her home away from home.

With the success of “The Parisian,” a book on Parisian street style, “The Carioca” follows with Rio fashion tips collected by Renata Abranchs and Tiago Petrik, editors behind the blog RioETC. “This book gives you a fun snapshot into the beach style of Rio,” says Paula.

Nourish and revive after a sunny day at the beach with one of this café’s many choices of fresh, natural juices. Paula shares her choice: “Try something called the ‘graviola’—it is one of my favorites!”

For rustic luxury without escaping the urban buzz of Rio, the Santa Teresa Hotel offers a wonderful spa admist plush and tranquil surroundings. “This place is like a haven right in the middle of the city,” says Paula.

The Arpoador is a must see landmark of Rio and one of the best places to take in the view is at Hotel Fasano, a posh hotel located right on Ipanema beach. “Hotel Fasano is so famous, it’s often visted by celebrities,” adds Paula.
Another rooftop offering panaromic views of the beach can be found at Praia Ipanema hotel. A brand new lounge called Terrace 7 Zero 6 is set to open, just in time for warm summer evenings. Of its stunning vistas, Paula exclaims, “I’m inspired, just by looking at all the beauty of Rio!”
