On Location: La Jolla Shores for WSJ
With the onset of warmer weather, ViX designer Paula Hermanny was recently photographed for a feature with The Wall Street Journal. Set in the ocean-carved cliffs of La Jolla shores, the shoot centered on Paula’s favorite looks from the Summer 2013 Collection and the ways in which she would style them.
Arriving in the classic striped Malawi dress, the designer set to work, choosing a little cove both equal parts scenic and raw. In the sand, she laid out the St. Martin Detail bikini, a mesmerizing suit accented with soft, nautical rope and leather tassels; the Sally Chemise dress in turquoise; the Santorini straw hat; Medium Woven bag and the Logo Sandal in orange—effortless resort chic!
After a quick change, Paula modeled the Orange Detail bikini, a simple suit adorned with gold mirror chain-link straps and tossed the eyelet Pipa caftan over it—simplicity at its best! Adding a dash of allure with Ray-Ban aviators or a wide-brimmed hat, she capped the look with a straw bucket tote perfect for the beach.
Ever at home by the ocean, Paula is happy and exuberant, she's an effortless model for the WSJ’s photographer. The designer was naturally poised and relaxed, in other words, the ideal subject in front of the camera.
Though just a couple pictures will eventually make the cut, photo shoots take a huge amount of time, effort and creative collaboration. Of course, having an assistant makes a difference; especially when there is a pile of resort wear to take back to the car. And that’s a wrap!
