The last travel guide featured Buzios, one of ViX designer Paula Hermanny’s favorite places in Brazil.  Florianópolis is another island city famous for its variety of beautiful beaches.  Known affectionately as “Floripa” to locals, the diverse city attracts both posh urbanites and easy-going surfers.  It is also the capital city of Santa Catarina, a state in the southern region of the country.

A trip to Florianópolis gives the visitor a chance for peaceful relaxation without want of nearby city hotspots.  Below, are the must-see places of the city:

ViX Summer 2013

Brazilian Carnival has come to a close but not without the ViX team capturing the best moments in Rio!  As the most popular party in the country and perhaps in the world, Carnival is a riveting four days of celebrating, dancing and feasting…a massive party, carried out the Brazilian way!

The most common way to celebrate Carnival is out on the streets.  Everyone--young and old--comes out, dressed up and moves to the sound of the music.  The summer sun is out and shining, giving ample opportunity for risqué outfits to make an appearance.

Winter is almost over and when Mother Nature’s palette goes from dreary to vibrant, it’s time to welcome the warm weather ahead.  With the Summer 2013 Collection debuting later this month, ViX designer Paula Hermanny is deeply obsessed with color, color, color!   As if the seasons couldn’t change fast enough, she shares with us the spectrum of pigments that have been occupying her thoughts--and by doing so, gets us ready to SPRING for color!

Fabric is telling of a culture.  It can instantly give depth to a room, uniqueness to a garment or even lend itself to the utility of a design.  ViX designer Paula Hermanny developed an appreciation for fabric and textiles at an early age.  Many a market trips were spent with her grandmother, Izaura, meandering through endless stalls of drapes, cloth and bolts of fabric.  With Izaura’s help, Paula learned how to make her own dresses out of the material she chose.  These childhood projects would later evolve into a lifelong passion for design.
