On a recent trip to New York, ViX designer Paula Hermanny was happy to notice that one of her winter must-haves was parading down several runways during New York Fashion Week: the (faux) fur vest!
“It’s so warm and just a fun piece to have,” Paula says, “You can throw it over something simple and it automatically brings your outfit a step up!”
Indeed, as the last weeks of winter come and go, the thought of wrapping up in cozy fluff makes waiting for spring more bearable. Whether in the form of a simple collar or a dazzling cape, adding fur to your wardrobe is easier than you think. Start off small and go with something you know you will love and wear. A jacket with a fur-trimmed hood, perhaps?
And don’t forget, with the passion for pelts forecasted this fall, having this staple will set you ahead of everyone else. Here are a few designers from Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week Fall 2013 that are leading the furry way:
Nicole Miller Fall 2013
Similar to the one Paula is sporting above, this black fur vest gives warmth while still maintaining a sleek silhouette.
Dian von Furstenberg Fall 2013
This modified vest gives more coverage and more of a look!
Nanette Lepore Fall 2013
A fur jacket is always classic, dress it up or dress it down for a look with some contemporary edge.
Badgley Mischka Fall 2013
A cropped fur vest and collar makes for an elegant, ladylike detail.
BCBGMaxAzria Fall 2013
Keeping it light and winter-white, with just a sliver of downiness atop the shoulders.
